Next-Race Plans: Where They're Going Next

3/22/2011

Updated March 23 @ 7:56 a.m. ET: Bind

It's hard to believe that when this Saturday comes and goes, only six weeks will remain to the Kentucky Derby. Time flies when you're having fun. So here we go--where will the contenders and pretenders be running for the next three weeks? Here are next-races plans for 57 horses on our lists and a few others.

Please keep in mind that the publication time for this piece is Tuesday morning at about 6:00 ET, before any workouts are posted today.

ANTHONY'S CROSS (PA)--Santa Anita Derby on April 9.

ARCH TRAVELER (KY)--Almost definitely the April 3 Florida Derby is next.

ARCHARCHARCH (KY)--The Arkansas Derby on April 16.

ASTROLOGY (KY)--Sunland Derby this Sunday unless connections change their minds again. His most recent work was March 15.

BANDBOX (NY)--The Preakness is the target; not clear what's next on his schedule.

BENCH POINTS (CA)--The Santa Anita Derby.

BIND (KY)--An allowance at Fair Grounds this Saturday.

BRETHREN (KY)--The Arkansas Derby is the most recent word, though not necessarily the final word.

CAL NATION (KY)--Unsure after nose loss at Gulfstream at March 19.

CALEB'S POSSE (KY)--The Arkansas Derby.

COMMA TO THE TOP (FL)--Churchill Downs reports that the Santa Anita Derby is next.

CRIMSON CHINA (KY)--Connections want him in the Grade III Vinery Racing Spiral at Turfway this Saturday, but at this point he's unlikely to get in, and connections may not settle for the Rushaway.

CRIMSON KNIGHT (KY)--Not sure where the Tampa Bay Derby runner-up will surface next.

DECISIVE MOMENT (FL)--The Vinery Racing Spiral.

DIALED IN (KY)--The Florida Derby.

ELITE ALEX (ON)--The Louisiana Derby this Saturday.

FLASHPOINT (FL)--The Swale or the Florida Derby, to be contested the same day at Gulfstream.

GLINT (KY)--The Vinery Racing Spiral.

GOURMET DINNER (FL)--He is apparently off the Derby Trail, and his trainer ain't talking. Churchill Downs took Gourmet Dinner off its graded earnings list that was released yesterday.

J P'S GUSTO (KY)--Possible for the Arkansas Derby. Connections have to assess the situation after he finished seventh in the Rebel.

J W BLUE (KY)--The Arkansas Derby.

JAYCITO (KY)--Most probably will race in the Wood Memorial on April 9, with the Santa Anita Derby the same day a backup plan at this point.

KING CONGIE (KY)--The Vinery Racing Spiral.

LEFT (KY)--The Louisiana Derby.

MACHEN (KY)--The Louisiana Derby.

MAJESTIC HARBOR (KY)--The Louisiana Derby.

MR. COMMONS (KY)--Don't know. Last worked March 15 at Santa Anita.

MUCHO MACHO MAN (FL)--The Louisiana Derby.

NACHO BUSINESS (KY)--The Louisiana Derby.

NACHO SAINT (KY)--The Sunland Derby.

NORMAN ASBJORNSON (MD)--Trainer says owners want to go to the Wood Memorial. Connections are looking at the Preakness, not the Kentucky Derby.

PANTS ON FIRE (KY)--The Louisiana Derby.

PARENT'S HONOR (KY)--No word.

POSITIVE RESPONSE (FL)--The Vinery Racing Spiral.

PREACHINTOTHEDEVIL (NY)--The Vinery Racing Spiral.

PREMIER PEGASUS (KY)--The Santa Anita Derby on April 9 unless Riveting Reason is in it, in which case he would ship out for a different spot. But see Riveting Reason below.

RESCIND THE TRADE (FL)--The Vinery Racing Spiral.

RIVETING REASON (KY)--Riveting Reason last breezed on March 5. Ostensibly, he's being pointed to the Santa Anita Derby or a race out of town if Premier Pegasus goes in the Santa Anita Derby.

SANTIVA (KY)--The Toyota Blue Grass on April 16.

SILVER MEDALLION (KY)--The Santa Anita Derby unless stable changes its mind again.

SOLDAT (KY)--Steady one is still pointed to the Florida Derby.

SOUR (KY)--Was said to be possible for the Spiral, but Turfway Park reported yesteday that he's not on the list of probables or possibles.

SPLASH POINT (KY)--The UAE Derby this Saturday.

STAY THIRSTY (KY)--Florida Derby or Arkansas Derby.

SWAY AWAY (KY)--Probable for the Arkansas Derby, but apparently it's not set in stone. Trainer said yesterday he lost a tooth hitting the starting gate in the Rebel.

SWEET DUCKY (KY)--The UAE Derby with the Kentucky Derby a possible target if he finishes fourth or better.

THE FACTOR (KY)--He may return for the Arkansas Derby, but all options are open, including the Santa Anita Derby.

THIRTYFIRSTSTREET (CA)--The Vinery Racing Spiral.

TO HONOR AND SERVE (KY)--Here's a horse whose scheduled hasn't moved at all. The Florida Derby is next.

TOBY'S CORNER (KY)--The Wood Memorial is looking more and more likely, and the Illinois Derby is the alternate plan.

TRAVELIN MAN (KY)--We don't know, but presumptively the Swale on April 3 would be next.

TWINSPIRED (KY)--The Vinery Racing Spiral.

UNCLE BRENT (KY)--Not known whether he will go to the Arkansas Derby off nose loss in March 13 allowance.

UNCLE MO (KY)--The Wood Memorial still looks to be his next race. The Florida Derby has been given some consideration and hasn't been ruled out 100% to our knowledge.

WATCH ME GO (FL)--Illinois Derby or possibly the Florida Derby.

WILKINSON (KY)--The Louisiana Derby.

WILLCOX INN (KY)--The Toyota Blue Grass.
