Amazombie worked five furlongs on Santa Anita’s main track in the dark at 5:30 a.m. as is trainer Bill Spawr’s wont. Santa Anita’s clockers timed the Grade I Ancient Title winner in 1:00.40.

“He went in a minute and two fifths, the last quarter in :23 and 3/5 and the last eighth in :11 1/5,” Spawr said. “He galloped out in 13 and three. He’ll ship Tuesday.”

Asked if he had any concerns for a possible off track, Spawr said, “We’re hoping for a good, safe fast track, is what we’re hoping for.”

Dubawi Heights, a consistent English-bred daughter of Dubawi who won the Grade I Yellow Ribbon Stakes at Santa Anita last out on Oct. 1, was another of several that worked at Santa Anita Saturday morning for their Breeders’ Cup engagements. She worked four furlongs on the main track in :50.60 for the Filly and Mare Turf.

“It was an easy move,” trainer Simon Callaghan said. “She runs in six days, and she’s got to ship (Sunday), so we were conscious to do it on the easy side. It was just what she needed. It’s just a matter of keeping her going. We didn’t need to get anything out of her today fitness-wise so I was very happy with her. It was just what she needed.”

Also on Santa Anita’s main track, Oak Tree Mile winner Jeranimo (Mile) worked four furlongs in :50 flat for Mike Pender; My Gi Gi (Juvenile Fillies Turf), fourth in the Grade I Oak Leaf Stakes, went four furlongs in :47.80 for Brian Koriner; and Medaglia d’Amour (F&M Turf) went five furlongs in 1:00.40, breezing, for Ben Cecil.

On Santa Anita’s grass course, Majestic City (Juvenile Turf), winner of the Grade I Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland, worked five furlongs in 1:03.40, breezing, for Peter Miller. Garrett Gomez, who rides the son of City Zip in the Juvenile Turf, was aboard for the drill.

At Hollywood, Mr. Commons (Mile) worked five furlongs on Cushion Track in 1:00.40 for John Shirreffs and Tres Borrachos (Dirt Mile) went the same distance in 1:02 for Marty Jones.
