Will Wrote be brought over from Ireland to compete in the Kentucky Derby? He's nominated and is currently ranked fourth in the Derby graded earnings list with $556,630.

We found this nugget at BetAsia.com, recently posted about Wrote, winner of the Grade I Breeders's Cup Juvenile Turf last year.

"At 20/1 with Ladbrokes is Wrote, who won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf under British jockey Ryan Moore for top trainer Aidan O’Brien. Even though the Ballydoyle trainer sent over Master of Hounds to finish fifth in the (Kentucky Derby) last year, he has gone on record saying that Wrote could be saved for the European Classics, such as the Irish 2000 Guineas."

The verdict is unclear, but it doesn't look like O'Brien is leaning toward running Wrote on dirt. The trainer also won the 2011 Grade I Breeders' Cup Turf -- with his son aboard St Nicholas Abbey -- but O'Brien hasn't had much luck bringing horses to Churchill Downs to run on dirt.

Besides Master of Hounds, O'Brien has only started two horses in the Kentucky Derby -- both in 2002, when Johannesburg and Castle Gandolfo finished eighth and twelfth, respectively.

So You Think was sixth in the 2011 Grade I Breeders' Club Classic at Churchill Downs. In 2007 at Monmouth Park, George Washington broke down in the home stretch.

On Santa Anita's then-synthetic course, Rip Van Winkle finished tenth in the 2009 Classic; and Henrythenavigator and Duke of Marmalade finished second and tenth in the 2008 Classic.

There are other considerations, too. Wrote is owned by Mrs. John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith. Magnier and Tabor own Grade III Sam F. Davis winner Battle Hardened (Looking Good) (tied for number 18 with $120,000); and Magnier, Tabor and Smith own Castaway (Worth Watching), who's set to run in Monday's Southwest Stakes. Declaration of War (Worth Watching), who's in Todd Pletcher's barn in South Florida, is owned by Magnier, Tabor, Smith and Joseph Allen.

Magnier and Tabor also have Daddy Long Legs (number 27, $94,030), who finished twelfth of 13 in the 2011 Breeders' Cup Juvenile. But you never know. Prospective, who finished thirteenth in the Juvenile, is on the Triple Crown Trail. He finished second to Battle Hardened in the Davis.
