Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic Probables, Possibles

10/11/2012

By Dick Downey

This could change between now and pre-entry day on Oct. 22, but based on a survey of several sources, there's a list of six definites, with only one of them based in Southern California.

Definites for the race look to be Awesome Feather, Include Me Out, Love and Pride, My Miss Aurelia, Questing and Royal Delta. This would mean that only one filly or mare based in Southern California, Include Me Out, would run in the Ladies' Classic.

Probables or possibles include Grace Hall, but trainer Tony Dutrow says he needs more time to see how she comes out of her dominant Indiana Oaks win.

Amani was the favorite in the Zenyatta, but she ran fifth. She's local. Waiting for word from the Neil Drysdale barn.

Class Included, winner of the Grade III Ballerina Stakes at Hastings, is being considered by trainer Jim Penney, and it looks like there'll be room for her if they decide to travel south.

Tiz Miz Sue is off the radar now, but her race in the Grade I Spinster at Keeneland was probably better than her fifth-place finish looks. Watching and waiting.

Via Villagio was fourth in the Zenyatta, and it could be a mistake to simply rule the Jerry Hollendorfer trainee out at this point.

Some fillies and mares with Ladies' Classic credentials but that are likely to be placed in other company based on all indications: Contested (Filly & Mare Sprint), In Lingerie (Filly & Mare Turf), It's Tricky (Filly & Mare Sprint), Joyful Victory (next start not announced), Star Billing (return to turf looks likely).

We won't count out Love Theway Youare from the Southern California stable of breeder-owner-trainer Myung Kwon Cho unless and until he personally rules her out.
