Churchill Downs Sunday Notes

4/24/2011

The lead story is that Bloodhorse.com reports Jaycito has officially been withdrawn from the Kentucky Derby due to his nagging foot bruise. The goal now is the Belmont Stakes, according to the story. Jaycito has started only once this year. There was no word on whether or when connections would try to get a race into Jaycito before the Belmont.

--The defection moves Watch Me Go into the 20th spot on the graded earnings list.

In addtion to workouts by Mucho Macho Man and Stay Thirsty on a sloppy track this morning:

--Archarcharch walked the Barn 40 shedrow.

--Decisive Moment galloped 1 1/2 mile with trainer Juan Arias up; Arias said he plans to work Decisive Moment on Thursday.

--Midnight Interlude galloped and could work this Tuesday. Trainer Bob Baffert arrives tonight, and will be at his barn tomorrow morning.

--Nehro galloped and is scheduled to work on Monday. Assistant Scott Blasi said the son of Mineshaft could work during the Derby/Oaks training period at 8:30 a.m., but could also go out as early as 6:00, depending on weather conditions. Training hours open at 5:45 a.m. "A lot depends on how good a seal he gets on the racetrack,” Blasi said. “I loved how it looked this morning. The track was good this morning. That track was really good.”

--Pants On Fire arrived at Churchill Downs from Palm Meadows at 11:30 a.m.

--Santiva galloped under Brendan Walsh after the renovation break.

--Although Stay Thirsty worked under Calvin Borel today, trainer Todd Pletcher didn't name him as the colt's Derby rider and said he'd talk to owner Mike Repole.

--The Factor jogged. Baffert will evaluate him after getting to Louisville.

--Twice the Appeal walked the Barn 42 shedrow, and Sway Away jogged for trainer Jeff Bonde, who won't arrive until Friday.

--Uncle Mo galloped 1 1/2 mile early today. Pletcher has him scheduled for a Tuesday morning breeze.
