Road Work: Workouts -- and A Lack Thereof -- on the Road to the Kentucky Derby

Some Kentucky Derby hopefuls are moving right along in their workout patterns, and some are stalled on the side of the road. Here's a survey of activity over the last four days.

Baffert's War Academy worked on Jan. 21 for the first time since Jan. 4 at Santa Anita.
Baffert's Shakin It Up hasn't been on the worktab since Dec. 29.
Baffert's Power Broker away from the worktab since Nov. 20. “He needs to fill out,” the trainer said on Nov. 28. “He’s a very light horse."
Baffert's Den's Legacy worked Jan. 18 for the first time since Dec. 28.
Baffert's Code West worked on Jan. 19 for the eighth time since Nov. 28 at Santa Anita.
No workouts since Jan. 5 for Baffert's Carving.
Mark Casse's Uncaptured hasn't breezed since winning the Kentucky Jockey Club in November. The plan was to send him to a farm in Ocala, then Palm Meadows.
Ken McPeek's Frac Daddy has put in four works at Gulfstream Park since Dec. 29, on schedule for Holy Bull unless connections opt for an allowance.
McPeek's Java's War hasn't breezed since Dec. 8.
Handsome Jack, off-the-pace winner of an allowance at Gulfstream on Dec. 8 for Wesley Ward, hasn't breezed since.
Falling Sky was sold for $425,000 on Jan. 16 in Ocala. He hadn't breezed since Jan. 5 but went five on Jan. 21 at Palm Meadows.
Tom Proctor's Pataky Kid, an Oklahoma-bred, breezed again at Gulfstream Park last weekend, He had been working at Tampa.
Nick Zito's Eton Blue, a one mile maiden special weight winner at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 5, came back to breeze Jan. 18 at Palm Meadows.
Jerry Hollendorfer's Fury Kapcori is working right along for the Bob Lewis.
Eddie Kenneally's Honorable Dillon worked back Jan. 19 from his Jan. 4 allowance win at Gulfstream.
Eddie Plesa's Gulfstream Park Derby winner Itsmyluckyday worked for the second time since that New Year's Day win on Jan. 19.
Jeff Greenhill's Mac the Man, handy Turfway Prevue winner Jan. 5, breezed at Turfway Park on Jan.19.
Bret Calhoun's Sugar Bowl winner Tour Guide breezed on Jan. 19, his third one since the Dec. 22 win.
Rudy Rodriguez' Jan. 5 Jerome winner Vyack worked back two weeks later at Aqueduct.
Jerry Hollendorfer's Jan. 12 Cal Derby winner Zeewat worked back seven days later at Golden Gate.
Kelly Breen's Bern Identity worked within seven days of a previous work for the first time in a while on Jan. 20
Todd Pletcher's Delhomme breezed for first time since the Remsen Stakes on Jan. 20 at Palm Meadows. Risen Star in his sights?
Pletcher's Overanalzye, pointed to the Gotham, on Jan. 20 worked for the second time since winning the Remsen at Palm Meadows.
Pletcher's Revolutionary has been working right along toward the Withers at Belmont Park.
Pletcher's Shanghai Bobby's move on Jan. 20 was his sixth work in six weekends toward the Holy Bull.
Pletcher's Verrazano worked on even terms with Shanghai Bobby on Jan. 20.
Pletcher's Violence, about whom some rumors circulate, on Jan. 20 breezed for the first time since his CashCall win in mid-December.
Pletcher's Park City, unraced since his debut maiden win at Saratoga, has breezed five times since Dec. 24 at Palm Meadows.
Pletcher's unraced Golden Lad has now put in eight breezes, including two gate works, since Dec. 3 at Palm Meadows.
Dale Romans' Dewey Square breezed for the eighth time since Nov. 10 on Jan. 20, presumably for the Holy Bull. He's at Gulfstream.
Chad Brown's Normandy invasion, pointing to Risen Star, worked for the third straight weekend on Jan. 20 at Palm Meadows.
Josie Carroll's Tesseron has been working quietly in Florida, going six at Palm Meadows on Jan. 20.
Carl Nafzger's Looking Cool -- good name -- breezed Jan. 21 for the second time since his maiden-breaker on Jan. 5. He's at Palm Meadows
Steve Asmussen's Proud Strike breezed Jan. 21 nine days after his Jan. 12 romp at Fair Grounds.
Crop Report was bought by Team Valor after winning at Newmarket. He's since breezed twice for Graham Motion, both times on the turf at Palm Meadows.
Shug McGaughey's Orb, a Nov. 24 maiden winner, was kept off the worktab until Dec. 24, returned to it on Jan. 11 and as of Tuesday was working steadily at Payson Park.
