De Kock Hopeful Soft Falling Rain Can Get Distance

Quotes from trainers of entries in Thursday's UAE 2000 Guineas.

Mike De Kock on Soft Falling Rain, winner of the UAE 2000 Guineas Trial: “He had a few questions to answer. He has a lot of natural speed, and there was a slight concern 1400 meters might be a bit far, but he stayed well enough. He had worked well on the surface, but until they race on it you can never be certain. Again, the extra 200 meters has to be a concern, but my gut feeling is he will stay, and he is certainly a lot fitter than he was three weeks ago.”

Mahmoud Al Zarooni on Fortify, last seen running fourth in the Grade I Breeders' Cup Juvenile: “He is a nice horse who is pleasing us at home. His form is on dirt, but hopefully he will handle the all-weather. He will improve for the run but should be competitive.”

Al Zarooni also said that Filfil was entered to ensure good pace for Fortify and Snowboarder, according to a tweet by AmWest Entertainment.

David Simcock on Glass Office, fifth in the 2000 Guineas Trial: “He has improved since then, and things just did not go smoothly three weeks ago. He should be able to get closer to De Kock’s horse this time."
