Trainer Todd Pletcher sent out Uncle Mo for a breeze today at Palm Meadows. He completed four furlongs in :49.60 (18/41). It was the colt’s second work since winning the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Churchill Downs. More....

New Horse in Town
Cal Nation is doing fine after his debut win yesterday at Gulfstream Park. But, according to Todd Pletcher, he's not being considered for the Kentucky Derby.

“Cal Nation came out of his race well,” said the trainer. “It’s a little late (for him to get onto the Kentucky Derby trail). We’d have to make up a lot of time. I think we’ll just take the conservative route with him.”

We'll continue to follow Cal Nation here on our Worth Watching page.

Jaycito Update
Jaycito is training steadily, but trainer Bob Baffert is staying mum about where the Triple Crown hopeful will make his next start. Jaycito has put in four workouts at Santa Anita since Jan. 12.

Time Tidbit
Shackleford's time in his 1 1/8-mile allowance win yesterday at GP: 1:50.04.
Giant Oak's time in his 1 1/8 mile Donn Handicap win yesterday at GP: 1:48.23.

Workouts of Note Yesterday
Astrology (Looking Good) put in his first workout of 2011 yesterday at Santa Anita. The Steve Asmussen trainee went four furlongs in :52.00 (53/54). Last Fall, Astrology won the Grade III Iroquois at Churchill Downs and finished second to Santiva (Looking Good) in the Grade II Kentucky Jockey Club on Nov. 27. Astrology has $105,893 in graded earnings.

Yesterday at Palm Meadows, Pants on Fire (Worth Watching) worked first time back from his second-place finish in the Grade III Lecomte on Jan. 22 at Fair Grounds. It was his first breeze at the Boynton Beach training center, where he registered five furlongs in a nice 1:01 (2/33).

2010 turf star Soldat (Looking Good) worked for the first time since winning a nine-furlong Gulfstream Park dirt allowance on Jan. 21. He was timed going four furlongs in :50.00 (48/65).
