Dick's Picks on the Fountain of Youth: It's Upside vs. Experience
The field for the Grade II Fountain of Youth Stakes could be divided into two camps, with four of the entries having a fair amount of starts under their belts and four having limited experience and thus more upside potential, at least in theory. More....
Commish: Madman on the Loose in the Hutcheson
It looks like at least a half dozen speedballs will be winging it on the front end in this year’s edition of the Grade II Hutcheson Stakes at Gulfstream Park. To speed or not to speed is always the question, but that doesn’t look like the answer today at seven furlongs. Blue Laser Moved to Ocala
Blue Laser (Worth Watching) is at the Ocala Training Center, where he breezed five furlongs in 1:00.60 (1/6) yesterday. He had put in five works at Palm Meadows starting on Jan. 13. Blue Laser is not eligible for the $100,000 OBS Championship Stakes in Ocala on March 14, so perhaps the nearby Grade II Tampa Bay Derby is in the cards. Nominations close tomorrow for the March 12 race.

Coa: Still Hope for Impovement
Eibar Coa underwent a 4 1/2-hour surgery yesterday, the second one he's had on his C4 vertebra that was broken Feb. 18 in a spill at Gulfstream Park. According to family spokesman and agent Tito Fuentes, Coa can move his arms had some movement in his feet.
“Everything went well,” Fuentes said. “Eibar was fine Thursday night. He was in a little pain, but that’s to be expected. I think right now it’s going to be a matter of how he progresses over the next few days.”
Along with those two surgeries, Coa had surgery Monday to repair a broken wrist.
