Mucho Macho Man Heading Back to Big Easy

3/3/2011

Mucho Macho Man will return to New Orleans from South Florida to run in the Grade II Louisiana Derby on March 26, trainer Kathy Ritvo confirmed today.

The Louisiana Derby will carry a $1 million purse for the first time in its 98-year history and become the richest Thoroughbred race ever run in New Orleans.

“Yes, we’re coming back,” Ritvo said of the Risen Star Stakes winner. “Mucho Macho Man seemed to love the track at Fair Grounds, so there’s no reason not to come back. The horse is doing great, and we’re all looking forward to coming back to New Orleans.

“We’ll probably arrive in the middle of the week like we did last time, and I’ll be flying on the plane with him,” Ritvo said.
