LaPenta Buys Control of Truman's Commander

A controlling interest in impressive Oaklawn maiden winner Truman's Commander has been sold to Robert LaPenta, and he's heading to South Florida--with the idea that he'll return to Hot Springs for the Grade I Arkansas Derby.

The son of Friends Lake romped to a six-length victory in his only start this year March 6 for former trainer Allen Milligan, who considered jumping to a stakes race this weekend in lieu of any allowance races filling at Oaklawn.

Rosenblum said the colt was on his way by van to the Palm Meadows Training Center but would be flown back for the Arkansas Derby. Zito has started only four horses at Oaklawn in his career, with the third-place finish by Andromeda's Hero in the 2005 Arkansas Derby his best finish.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed. Truman's Commander has been added to our Worth Watching list.
