Uncle Sam to Texas

Uncle Sam is entered in Monday's Lone Star Derby on turf. Installed as the 5-2 morning line favorite, Uncle Sam leads a field of nine.

Uncle Sam has been mentioned as possible for the Belmont Stakes along with his stable mate Awesome Patriot from the Bob Baffert barn.

Derby Kitten is the second choice in the Lone Star Derby at 3-1. He won the Grade IIII Coolmore Lexington Stakes before finishing thirteenth in the Kentucky Derby.

Close Ally, from the Neil Howard barn, is the 7-2 third choice, while former Derby Trail horse Thirtyfirststreet is listed at  9-2 for Doug O'Neill.

The Lone Star Derby is race 8 on the Lone Star card with a post time of 5:51 ET.

Tech Fall, a Delaware Park allowance winner on April 30 that's also been mentioned for the Belmont, is entered in today's Lamplighter's Stakes on the turf course at Monmouth Park. The Tony Dutrow trainee is 5-2 second choice behind morning line favorite Crimson China.

Tech Fall was also entered in a one-mile allowance/optional claimer at Parx on Monday. He's the 7-2 third choice behind Linebacker and Jake's Bandaid.
