Alternation Out of Belmont

5/29/2011

Alternation will be withheld from the Belmont Stakes and wait for stakes races later this summer.

Trainer Donnie K. Von Hemel told DRF.com that Alternation, who's based at Arlington Park for now  will skip the Belmont despite winning the Grade II Peter Pan over the track.

"He's had four or five races early in the year. We want to give him a little breather now, then make some noise later," Von Hemel said. The trainer said he is looking at races like the Jim Dandy and Travers Stakes at Saratoga.
