Four Work Toward Risen Star at FG

The worktab at Fair Grounds this morning was led by a pair of Larry Jones colts that will be an entry in Saturday's Grade II Risen Star Stakes.

Mr. Bowling, with seven-time Fair Grounds champion Robby Albarado aboard, broke off working in company with stable mate Very Lucky. The Grade III Lecomte winner finished five furlongs in a bullet :59.80 (1/63), breezing, while the work mate ran the same distance in 1:00.40 (5/63).

“Robby said that he is getting better every day,” Jones siad. “He was very happy with the way things went for him this morning.”

Moments before, Mark Valeski, a winner of his last two starts, worked in company with stable mate and maiden colt See Me Proud. Mark Valeski, with Fair Grounds’ leading jockey Rosie Napravnik in the irons, breezed five furlongs in 1:00.20 (3/63); See Me Proud was timed in 1:01.40 (19/63).

"Mark Valeski, Rosie really likes him," trainer Larry Jones said afterward. "She has the confidence that she can take him anywhere she wants, and that this colt has more than one move in him."

Both colts are Brereton Jones homebreds and will be coupled in wagering on Saturday.

Shared Property, third in the Lecomte after a wide trip, worked five furlongs in 1:01.60 (20/63), breezing, today. “He went great,” said trainer Tom Amoss. “I was very pleased.”

Shared Property closed from eighth after breaking from the outside post 13 in the Lecomte. The Risen Star drew eleven runners, and Shared Property, who's owned by Jerry Namy, drew post 10.

Zayat Stables’ Z Dager, runner-up in the Lecomte, breezed a half-mile in :50.60 (39/68) for the barn of trainer Steve Asmussen.

Nehro, runner-up in last year’s Louisiana Derby, Arkansas Derby and Kentucky Derby for Asmussen, went five furlongs in 1:02.00 (24/63) in preparation for an allowance race Saturday.
