Kentucky Derby and Horse Racing at The Downey Profile®

By Dick Downey

There's a lot of activity this week, with a filly moving to the top list, list-shifting by other horses, and a barn-full of deletions as we narrow the pipeline to the Kentucky Derby.

On Fire Baby was promoted from Just In Case after she won the Grade III Honeybee and connections say she is Kentucky Derby-bound. She has the earnings.

Prospective also has the earnings now that he's won the Grade II Tampa Bay Derby. Moved up from Worth Watching.

Battle Hardened was sent down to Worth Watching after a sixth-place finish at Tampa. He has $127,000 in graded stakes earnings.

Fed Biz was relocated to Worth Watching after missing the Grade II San Felipe.

Gemologist was also put on Worth Watching due to the decision to run him in an allowance instead of a stakes race. Looking for a workout from him on Monday. Last worked on March 3.

Rousing Sermon was moved down to Worth Watching after his fifth-place performance in the San Felipe, but he could stilll move back up. He has $170,000 in graded earnings.

Golden Ticket finished a strong second in the Tampa Bay Derby off a maiden win at Gulfstream Park.

Heavy Breathing looks to be headed to the Grade III Spiral off a pair of wins at GP. He wasn't early-nominated to the Triple Crown.

Midnight Transfer was moved up from Just In Case off his third-place finish in the San Felipe, but the report is he was one tired horse after the race.

American Act moves down to Just In Case after being unable to maintain his pace-setting run in the San Felipe.

Empire Way goes to Just In Case after finishing ninth, beaten 21 3/4 lengths by stable mate Creative Cause in the San Felipe. He avoids deletion with trainer Mike Harrington intimating that he'll try again, but not at Santa Anita.

Swag Daddy gets an overdue demotion to Just In Case.

Groovin' Solo finished last in the San Felipe.

Out of Bounds was taken off the list after news of his non-displaced condylar fracture of the left front cannon bone.

Sky Kingdom has a foot issue and will be out about 60 days. No way to make the Kentucky Derby.

Souper Speedy is MIA from the worktab since Feb. 14.

Bahamian Squall finished off the board in the Grade II Swale.

Brother Francis was a close third in a turf maiden special weight Saturday at Santa Anita.

Declaration of War hasn't put in a workout for Todd Pletcher since Feb. 5; time to go.

Ecabroni hasn't breezed since his Sam Davis debacle on Feb. 4.

Hammers Terror was fourth in the 7 1/2-furlong Black Gold on turf at Fair Grounds on Saturday.

How Do I Win was third in the Cappy Capossela on Saturday.

King Kid hasn't breezed since running fifth of six to Alpha in the Withers on Feb. 4.

Margano, a full brother to Barbaro, has been MIA from the worktab since a Jan. 22 breeze.

Points Offthebench is clearly not heading to any races that would impact the TC Trail. Next for him is the Echo Eddie Stakes at SA.

Ring It Up isn't on the probables list for the Rebel; he is in fact headed to an easier spot just as his trainer said after the Southwest.

Ted's Folly, the little Oklahoma-bred, will be going on a different, much less amibtious path after running last in the Black Gold.

Tiz Point finished ninth, beaten 20 1/2 lengths in the San Felipe.
