Adirondack King On Go For Rebel

3/15/2012

Southwest Stakes third-place runner Adirondack King is feeling strong ahead of the Grade II Rebel Stakes. So says trainer John Servis.

“We are ready. Just one day to go,” said Servis today.

Adirondack King is looking to build on his Oaklawn debut, finishing third in the Southwest behind front-runners Secret Circle and Scatman. A winner of a restricted stakes last November at Parx Racing in Philadelphia, Adirondack King has been third in both his starts as a 3-year-old. His other start this year came in the Pasco Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs.

Servis says Adirondack King has been training well.

“His last workout we just wanted to let him finish up well,” Servis said. “Just stretch his legs, because he’s pretty ready but I didn’t want him to gallop out so much. He didn’t give us much of choice, because it was still pretty strong.”

Adirondack King, who drew the outside post 13, will team with regular jockey Stewart Elliott in the Rebel.

Two of the entries, Unbridled's Note and Ring It Up, were entered in a Friday allowance. Trainer Chris Richard said Wednesday that Ring It Up will go on Friday.
