Hansen prepared for Keeneland’s Grade I Toyota Blue Grass Stakes with a five-furlong work in :59.80 (2/10) on Saturday at Churchill Downs’ Trackside training center in Louisville
With Joel Barrientos in the saddle, the son of Tapit ran over the six-furlong training surface in splits of :12.20, :23.80, :35.80 and :47.40. He galloped out six furlongs in 1:14.60.
Hansen turned in a couple of relatively easy works at trainer Mike Maker’s base after spending most of the winter in Florida.
“We let him pick it up a little bit,” Maker said. “He’s doing good. He is not stressed at all. It was a pretty solid work, and he had a nice gallop-out.”
At this posting, Hansen stood at 4-1 odds in Pool 3 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager.
