Kentucky Derby and Horse Racing at The Downey Profile®

Borel Said to Be OK

By Dick Downey

Calvin Borel took off his mount in the sixth race today at Churchill Downs, but The Downey Profile was told he's OK.

Borel was aboard Auspicious Risk in the fifth at Churchill. The horse took a bad step and was eased out of contention by Borel. He was replaced aboard Ava's Playful Run in the sixth.

Darren Rogers of the Churchill Downs publicity department said, "He's OK. We were told he was exhausted from pulling the horse up."

Borel, who's set to ride Take Charge Indy in the Kentucky Derby, has one more mount left on the card today at Churchill Downs, Crystal Moment in the tenth race.
