Kentucky Derby and Horse Racing at The Downey Profile®

Thursday Morning's Derby Trail Highlights

Highlights from updates to our Looking Good, Worth Watching and Just In Case pages. Refer to those pages for details.

Dominick Schettino's ALWAYS IN A TIZ (Worth Watching), fifth as the second choice in Grade III Southwest, had a lung infection following the race. “We’re going to still shoot for the Rebel,” Anthony Bonomo Jr., general manager for the owner, told DRF.com. “With the points system, we need some big points now. We need to be one-two.”

Gennadi Dorochenko's BETHEL (not listed), a Risen Star entry, is cross-entered in the fourth race at Fair Grounds on Saturday.

R. Violette's CLAWBACK (Just In Case) Wednesday breezed toward the Gotham, a mile in 1:46.75 (1/1) at AQU.

Graham Motion's CROP REPORT (Worth Watching) and Josie Carroll's TESSERON (Worth Watching) will race on Saturday in a turf allowance at Gulfstream Park. Race 7.

Mike Maker's FEAR THE KITTEN (Worth Watching) will probably run next in the Grade III Spiral on March 23, the trainer told DRF.com.

Mark Casse's SKY CAPTAIN (Worth Watching) will probably scratch from the Fountain of Youth and race next in either the John Battaglia Memorial or the Gotham, both on March 2.

Al Stall Jr.'s SUNBEAN (Worth Watching) will scratch from the Risen Star and run in the Gentilly.

W. Lukas' TITLETOWN FIVE (Just In Case) Wednesday breeezed again toward a comeback race in March, six in 1:14.80 (1/1) at OP. Co-owned by Paul Hornung.

M. Casse's UNCAPTURED (Looking Good) Wednesday breezed again on the farm toward the Spiral Stakes, four in :47.80 (1/4) at OTC. Uncaptured will probably run in the Grade III Spiral on March 23. The Rushaway on the Spiral undercard has also been considered. “He breezed a half-mile in 47 and galloped out five-eighths in 1:00 on Tuesday and is doing really well,” trainer Casse told DRF.com. “I was a little worried we were going to be behind with him, but I’m a lot less worried now. He’s really come around nicely...."
