Texas Bling Already Back to Work

Trainer Danele Durham, who said after the Grade III Southwest Stakes that Texas Bling didn’t run enough to get a good workout, sent the son of Too Much Bling out to breeze eight days after the race.

Sunday at Oaklawn Park, Too Much Bling posted a bullet half-mile in :47.60 (1/84) with regular rider Cliff Berry up.

The Southwest was run after a deluge hit Oaklawn Park. Texas Bling didn't like the sloppy going and finished ninth.

“He was just full of himself,” said Durham after the breeze. “I just told Cliff to let him have some fun, and he did it well within himself. I don’t think Cliff even had his whip. We’re just going to put a line through that last race and point toward the Rebel. There are brighter things ahead.”

The Grade II Rebel Stakes, worth $600,000 and 85 points, is set for March 16.
