Kentucky Derby and Horse Racing at The Downey Profile®

Monday Morning's Derby Trail Notes

Updated 4:44 p.m. ET -- Clearly Now

Some horses moving forward, some moving backward, some treading water. Highlights from updates to our Looking Good, Worth Watching and Just In Case pages. Refer to  those pages for details.

Chris Block's BAMBAZONKI (unlisted) yesterday breezed four in :49.00 (5/13) at GP for the Blue Grass.  Hasn't run since second in the Kitten's Joy.

We didn't see a breeze on last weekend's worktab from Brian Lynch's CLEARLY NOW (Just In Case) -- but it's there now, so he remains pointed to the Bay Shore Stakes this Saturday.

DEMONIC (Worth Watching) still has an outside chance of getting on the Kentucky Derby Trail after losing training time due to a bruised foot. “He worked yesterday at Hollywood and is scheduled to work again next Saturday,” trainer John Sadler said. “Obviously, we’ll need points for him to get to the Derby. The Blue Grass and the Arkansas Derby are possible.”

Pam Fitzgerald, assistant to trainer Al Stall Jr., said DEPARTING (Worth Watching) is fine. Departing was third in the Louisiana Derby.

Ken McPeek's FRAC DADDY (Just In Case) leaning toward the Illinois Derby.

“(GROUND TRANSPORT) (Worth Watching) is fine.... He’s just about three months behind where he should be right now, but once he gets some experience, we’ll have a real nice horse for the summer,” said assistant trainer Hillary Pridham. Ground Transport was fifth in the Louisiana Derby.

Ken McPeek's JAVA'S BOY (Worth Watching) is in Louisville now and yesterday breezed four in :48.20 (1/3) at CD toward the Blue Grass.

On MYLUTE (Looking Good), second in the Louisiana Derby: “We’re going to head right to Louisville,” said trainer Tom Amoss. “I’m still not exactly sure what our plans are when we get there, but our horse ran a huge race yesterday, and we’re very proud of him. He came out of the race just fine.”

Chad Brown's NOBLE TUNE (Worth Watching) is in Lexington now and yesterday breezed four in :49.60 (11/16) at KEE toward the Blue Grass.

Wondering if we'll see a workout from Gary Contessa's RYDILLUC (Worth Watching) soon. Last one was seven-furlong turf move on March 23. No recent comment by the trainer on his Twitter account not a good sign.

Eddie Plesa's SPEAK LOGISTICS (Just In Case) did not work this past weekend. He was nominated to the Calder Derby but Plesa said he wouldn't run in it.

Fitzgerald said SUNBEAN (Worth Watching) is fine."Sunbean got absolutely slammed a couple of times yesterday, but he seems to be alright.” Sunbean finished eighth in the Louisiana Derby.

Ken McPeek's TAKEN BY THE STORM (Just In Case) pointed to the Coolmore Lexington.

Ron Ellis' TREASURY BILL (Worth Watching) worked yesterday for the first time since he was eighth in the Rebel on March 16, four in :49.80 (34/60) at BHP.

John Terranova II's WEST HILLS GIANT (Worth Watching) will miss the Wood Memorial after coming down with a respiratory infection and missing a workout.
