Juveniles in Spotlight Saturday at Kentucky Downs

By Dick Downey

Seven colts and a gelding were entered in Saturday's Kentucky Downs Juvenile Stakes, while the Juvenile Fillies drew a field of nine. The events are part of a five-stakes, 10-race day with purses totaling over $1.3 million.
The $150,000 Juvenile field Includes Boji Moon, the 12-length winner of the Iowa Cradle Stakes at Prairie Meadows. He's won both his races by a total of 23 lengths. Brian Hernandez, Jr. will ride for trainer Chris Richard.
Wesley Ward brings in the cleverly-named Here's Johnny. After breaking his maiden on the turf at  Churchill Downs in June, Ward took the son of Colonel John to Deauville, where he was a narrowly beaten fourth in the $72,874 Prix de la Vallee d'Auge.
Others with stakes experience are Runkle, fourth in the Grade III Bashford Manor for Kellyn Gorder; and Aft, fifth in the Shakopee Juvenile at Canterbury Park for Michael Lauer.
Four maiden winners are in the field. Dale Romans sends in Luxury; Wayne Catalano has School On a Hill and Mister Special; and Tom Amoss entered Sweet Daddy.
The complete field by post position:

The remainder of the field is made up of recent maiden winners, including Lien on Kitten, a daughter of Kitten's Joy owned by Ken and Sarah Ramsey. She'll be ridden by Channing Hill, who makes his career debut at Kentucky Downs on Saturday.
