For the second time this meet, Kentucky Downs has established an all-time high in all-source handle. The figure on day 4 of the meet approached $3 million.
Kentucky Downs handled $2,982,294 on Wednesday, Sept. 18. This eclipsed the record set on opening day, Sept. 7, when the figure was $2,837,897.
While today's card had 13 races, compared to 10 on opening day, the new figure is significant coming on a Wednesday. Opening day took place on a Saturday.
It's the 21st racing season at the track. The Sept. 7 figure was a 108% increase over the 2012 opening day figure.
Kentucky Downs handled $2,816,019 on the second Saturday of the meet, Sept. 14. Activity on the first Wednesday of racing, Sept. 11, was shortened after a thunderstorm knocked out the tote system at the track. Six races were lost that day. Three extra races were carded on Sept. 18.
