Honor Code Breezes at Gulfstream

By Dick Downey

For the first time in 25 days, Honor Code put in a published workout today at Gulfstream Park, and it may have been better than thought at first blush.

While Equibase credited Honor Code with a three-furlong move in :35.66 (2/6), a Gulfstream Park official indicated Honor Code went four furlongs in :47.78 and galloped out five-eighths in 1:01.49. It was the first work for the A.P. Indy colt since Jan. 18 at Payson Park.

Honor Code has been recovering from hind ankle bruising, and Shug McGaughey transferred him from Payson Park to Gulfstream after making that issue public.

Earlier reports had Honor Code being pointed to the Gotham Stakes on March 1, but McGaughey told DRF.com on Feb. 11 that he's now looking at the Rebel Stakes on March 15 for the Remsen Stakes winner's 2014 debut.
