Honor Code Reprises Worktab Appearance

2/19/2014

Honor Code was back on the worktab for the second time in a week today at Gulfstream Park.

After breezing at Payson Park on Dec. 31 and Jan. 18, Honor Code, winner of the Remsen Stakes last November, was found to have bruised rear ankles and was moved to Shug McGaughey's barn at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 30.

More than three weeks after his last three-furlong breeze at Payson, Honor Code again went three furlongs per publicaton at Equibase.com, timed in :35.66 (2/6) at Gulstream on Feb. 12. At the time, a Gulfstream Park official said Honor Code got four furlongs in  :47.78 and galloped out five-eighths in 1:01.49.

His Feb. 19 workout is officially published at four furlongs timed in :49.71 (6/13).

The son of A.P. Indy is expected to make his 2014 debut in the Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park on March 15 if all goes well. McGaughey said he originally hoped Honor Code would make the Gotham Stakes on March 1, but he recently ruled out that option.
