California Chrome worked four furlongs at Los Alamitos on Saturday, moving him a step closer to the Kentucky Derby.

Under Victor Espinoza, California Chrome was timed going four furlongs in 47:80 (7/27) on a track he had all to himself.

“Victor said he went great,” trainer Art Sherman said. “The track was immaculate.

“He’ll have his final workout next Saturday and ship early Monday morning for Kentucky. There were some 30 people here today to see him work. He galloped out in 1:01. Everything went great.”

Meanwhile at Santa Anita, John Sadler's Candy Boy, who was third to California Chrome in the Santa Anita Derby put in a bullet five furlongs in :59:80 (1/15).
