Social Inclusion Officially Out of Derby Consideration

4/29/2014

Social Inclusion, ranked 22nd in Kentucky Derby points, won’t be shipped from south Florida to Louisville for the race and will wait for the Preakness Stakes.

Social Inclusion won his debut and an allowance race in dominant fashion, both of them at Gulfstream Park, before running third to Wicked Strong in the Wood Memorial to get 20 points. He was unraced last year.

Pablo Del Monte, number 21 on the list, will be shipped from Keeneland on Wednesday, the deadline to be at Churchill Downs for the Derby, in case there is another defection from the prospective field. The most recent horse to get in was Commanding Curve when Ring Weekend dropped out on Sunday.

Social Inclusion’s defection moves trainer Katerina Vassilieva’s Big Bazinga to 22nd. He’s at Churchill Downs now.

There are up to four also-eligible spots. The deadline to scratch is Friday morning when Derby wagering opens.

Pablo Del Monte’s backup plan is to run in the Preakness. Big Bazinga may be entered in the American Turf at Churchill Downs.

Entries for the Kentucky Derby and American Turf will be taken on Wednesday.
