American Pharoah Could Stay Home for 3YO Debut

The Rebel Stakes on March 14 has been said to be American Pharoah's first target of the year, but today Bob Baffert said the colt could stay at home and start a week earlier.

Now he's also a candidate for the San Felipe Stakes on March 7, Baffert said.

FrontRunner Stakes winner American Pharoah on Monday had his first published workout since last Oct. 26, prior to missing the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile with a suspensory-related injury.

“He looks good," Baffert said. "He’ll come around quick. We have the Rebel, and the San Felipe. If all goes well, he’ll be in one of those.”

At the time of this post, American Pharoah was 11-1 in Pool 2 of the 2015 Kentucky Derby Future Wager which opened today.
