Derby Uncertain for Ami’s Flatter

Trainer Josie Carroll reported that Florida Derby third-place finisher Ami’s Flatter was doing well Sunday morning, but whether he'll be entered in the Kentucky Derby is up in the air.

Ami’s Flatter has 40 Derby points and is 14th in the Kentucky Derby points standings. He's shippping out of Florida on Monday.

“He’s going to ship to Toronto, and we’ll have three weeks to decide,” said Carroll. The Ontario-bred son of Flatter is eligible for the Queen’s Plate at Woodbine on July 5.

Ami’s Flatter closed from off the pace to finish over a dozen lengths behind Materiality in the Florida Derby.

“I thought he ran a great race. The speed got away, and he just wasn’t able to make up enough ground,” Carroll said.
