Motion Has His Reasons for Donworth's Entry

4/9/2015

Graham Motion said he decided to run Donworth in the Coolmore Lexington Stakes instead of a Thursday allowance race for 250,000 reasons.

“There are very capable horses in both races, but I would rather run for $250,000 than $60,000,” Motion said. “Both races have experienced horses in them and that will be against him in either spot.”

Dunworth is decidedly inexperienced, having been entered off a debut maiden win. The son of Tiznow is the first foal to race for grade 1-placed mare Temple Street, a daughter of Street Cry (IRE). He made his debut on March 14 at Gulfstream Park and prevailed by a neck in a hard-fought race. He was sent off agt 8-5 odds in a field of 13.

“He is a great big horse, and he just had some baby stuff going on, nothing exceptional,” Motion said. "I was always pleased with his works and was looking forward to having him run like that.”
