The Preakness Stakes can't be far away when the Federico Tesio Stakes is in the news. The 1 1/16-mile race has 19 nominees and will go to post on April 18.

Among the Tesio nominees are Divining Rod, but that was a saver. He's running today in the Coolmore Lexington Stakes. The  Illinois-bred Dom the Bomb, who capped his juvenile season with back-to-back stakes victories at Hawthorne Park is also on the list.

Also nominated are Because He Can, coming off successive sprint victories at Laurel Park, most recently Feb. 8; stakes-tested Bodhisattva, second in Laurel’s 1 1/8-mile Private Terms on March 21; Maryland-bred Miracle Wood runner-up Combat Diver; and Donworth, another entered in today's Lexington Stakes.
