Monday morning, D. Wayne Lukas said he wants to run Mr. Z in the Preakness. It would be his fourth race in seven weeks.
“I haven’t talked to Mr. Zayat, but we will get together,” Lukas said. “My vote would be to go. He never got a chance to run. We were the whipping boy, but you get that in an 18-horse field.”
Mr. Z finished 13th in the Kentucky Derby. Lukas plans to be in Baltimore for Preakness Weekend with runners expected in several undercard stakes both days.
Mr. Z competed in the Louisiana Derby five weeks before the Kentucky Derby and ran two weeks later in the Arkansas Derby.
