Up to 13 Looking at Santa Anita Derby

3/26/2017

Probables and possibles are:

-- Battalion Runner, a $700,000 son of Unbridled’s Song trained by Todd Pletcher in Florida, as yet untested in stakes company. He'll be entered in the Florida Derby but is more probable for the Santa Anita Derby at this point.

-- Four from the barn of Doug O’Neill: Iliad (Flavien Prat), second in the San Felipe Stakes; Milton Freewater (Tiago Pereira) most recently second in a one-turn allowance at the track; So Conflated (Mario Gutierrez), a well-beaten sixth in the Gotham Stakes; Term of Art (Tyler Baze), third in the San Felipe;

-- American Anthem, badly beaten in the Rebel Stakes;

-- Battle of Midway, a recent two-turn allowance winner at the track;

-- Gormley, fourth in the San Felipe;

-- Midnight Pleasure, third behind Milton Freewater in the one-turn allowance;

-- Reach the World, a close second in a recent two-turn allowance at the track;

-- Kimbear, scratched from the Sunland Derby in favor of this race;

-- Sonneteer, second in the Rebel Stakes as a maiden; and

-- Sorry Erik, entered in this Saturday's Louisiana Derby.

Royal Mo, who finished up the track in the Rebel, is not on the list.
