Kentucky Derby and Horse Racing at The Downey Profile®

College Day at Kentucky Downs Reset to Wednesday

College Day, where full-time college students have a chance to win one of 10 Microsoft® Surface tablet computers or one of two $1,500 scholarships, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Kentucky Downs.
The popular event, staged in conjunction with the Kentucky HBPA, was to be Sunday but became a victim of the deluge of rain that forced postponement of the racing card until Wednesday.
College students with a valid I.D. card or other documentation from a recognized university, two- or four-year college, technical or community college are eligible to sign up to win via drawing one of the Microsoft® Surface tablets given out after each race, as well as one of two $1,500 scholarships. The tablets are courtesy of the Kentucky Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association, which represents horse owners and trainers at the state’s five thoroughbred tracks. Kentucky Downs sponsors the scholarships.
Sign-ups will begin at 12:30 p.m. Central Wednesday near the merchandise stand and not far from the finish line. College students, their friends and family can enjoy 10 horse races, including the $400,000 Dueling Grounds Derby and $300,000 Exacta Systems Dueling Grounds Oaks. Students must be present to win.
